6. Why Did the Pied Piper Go East?
The story of the Pied Piper ends with a mystery. After being betrayed by the people of Hameln, the Piper is said to have led the town's children away and disappeared toward the east. According to the legend, a few children later returned and shared what they had witnessed.
Many theories have been proposed about the origin of the legend, but no single explanation has been universally accepted. If one continues traveling east from Germany, the journey eventually reaches Central Asia and, at the far end of the continent, Korea. What if the lonely Pied Piper set out on a long journey to find new friends?
