5. German Theme Routes & Romantikstrasse
The Romantic Road is Germany's first themed tourist route. Established in 1950, it was created by cities in Bavaria seeking new opportunities for cultural tourism after World War II.
The route follows roads that developed from Roman and medieval transportation networks and connects many historic towns, castles, and cultural landmarks. As tourism infrastructure improved, it became one of Germany's most popular cultural travel destinations.
Today, the Romantic Road stretches approximately 460 kilometers from Würzburg to Füssen and officially connects 29 cities and towns.
로만틱가도는 독일 최초의 테마관광루트로, 1950년 바이에른주 소속 도시들을 중심으로 출범하였습니다. 독일의 테마가도는 제2차 세계대전 이후 지자체들이 역사와 문화를 활용한 새로운 관광 모델을 모색하면서 시작되었습니다. 로만틱가도가 처음 시작된 이후 현재 독일에는 150여개의 크고 작은 테마가도가 있다고 합니다.
로만틱가도는 고대 로마시대와 중세시대에 만들어진 교통로를 바탕으로 발전하였으며, 수많은 역사도시와 성곽, 문화유산을 연결하고 있습니다. 현재 로만틱가도는 Würzburg에서 Füssen까지 약 460km를 연결하며, 공식적으로 29개 도시와 마을이 참여하고 있습니다.
